Duration: 1 week

Material: Steele and Wool
Dimensions: 300x1600x300

Exploring the relationship between two contrasting materials: metal and wool.  With distinct different physical properties and production methods  in the materials the project investigates how their structural, tactile, and visual qualities can create new possibilities in furniture design.

Every year, thousands of tonnes of wool are discarded, not because the material lacks value, but because the industry lacks the capacity and infrastructure to process it.

Wool is renewable, biodegradable, and endlessly versatile. Its unique structure regulates temperature, it is flame retardant, resists odors, repels moisture, and offers exceptional durability.
Beyond its performance, wool represents a understanding for responsibly.  From the pasture to the finished product.

In this project I created a floor lamp with wool donated by Hushållningssällskapet in Halland I and a base welded with a pattern that  inspired by agricultural land fields.

Södra Stadshusets Bakficka
2026, Konstfack
Thesis work / Graduation project
Duration: 23 Feb - 13 May

Authorship: Linnea Wallin

Södra Stadshusets Bakficka is a bachelor's degree project completed within the Interior Architecture and Furniture Design programme at Konstfack University in the spring of 2026.

Historic buildings require new functions to remain relevant and actively used over time. This project is driven by the belief that interior architecture and design can unlock the potential of existing spaces rather than relying on demolition or new construction. Through simple, non-invasive, and reversible interventions, culturally significant environments can be reactivated and their lifespan extended.

The proposal materializes through interventions in MDF and kraft paper, taking the form of an acoustic wall, tables, and lighting elements.

The design process resulted in insights into how architecture and interior design can challenge established conventions within conservation practice and question traditional preservation narratives. Ultimately, the project demonstrates how the relationship between the old and the new can be renegotiated, allowing history and contemporary life to coexist within the same space.

My name is Linnea, and Thuwa is the name of this project. It is derived from my birth name, Thu Wallin.

As of spring 2026, I hold a BFA degree in Interior Architecture and Furniture Design from Konstfack University of Arts, Crafts and Design.

During my studies, I spent one semester at Parsons School of Design in New York, where I developed my practice in exhibition and product design. I have professional experience in spatial design and scenography. Before starting my bachelors at Konstfack, I completed two years of preparatory studies at Nyckelviksskolan, where I developed my skills in art, crafts, and carpentry.

I am particularly interested in placemaking, experimental preservation within the built environment as part of our cultural heritage, and writing about interiors. Design practices should be rooted in socially and ecologically sustainable principles, with every design decision reflecting these commitments and interiors are a direct extension of our societal values.
